Tokyo's 2010 games of the year awards!

Before we get started let me just state that this is all my opinion. No one but me had any say or do for these awards. I hope you enjoy this!

Best First Person Shooter of 2010(FPS)

I had a tough decision on either this or Call of Duty. Both are fantastic shooters, and all around great games. Both could have easily taken this award, but Halo has all the essentials. Great mechanics, style, weapons, and much more. Everything you want in a shooter is in Halo: Reach.

Best PC game:

2. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm ( Yes, I know it's an expansion.)

How could you not give this best PC game of the year? 10 years of Brood War, and it's finally here. The game has been a great success, and gives Korea a reason to live again!

Best Wii game

Mario Galaxy was a masterpiece, and there were a lot of speculations that this game would not hold up. People speculated that it would be repetitive and boring. Mario Galaxy 2 is everything but, adding Yoshi into the mix, and new puzzles and challenges makes this one of the best games of the year.

Kratos is back, bigger, and better than ever before. Showing why he is the face of Sony's console. Destroying gods, and demons. Game is very polished, and just one great experience. No wonder so many studios copy this game.

Tough decision for the last 4, but not for number one. Mass Effect 2 is one of the greatest games this world has ever seen. Microsoft scored big time getting a exclusive to the 360 first.

I had a hard time putting this in front of Call Of Duty because of the time and effort Treayrch put into their game. But I did because we've seen Cod redone just a tiny bit better every year for 4 years now. Capcom gave us much more in this update. Replays, characters, stages, character updates, and more is coming!


Best Single player Experience

3. Assassins Creed Brotherhood (I'm somewhat a fanboy of this series)

Once again this wins another award. The game had such a deep single player experience. I played through the game at least 4 times, and many things were different every time. The game has such a deep story, and many fun situations fights. The game went deep into every character in your crew so you were attached. Bioware did everything right.

Mass Effect 2 is everything a game of the year should be. Outstanding story, great character development, a universe that you never want to leave, better shooting mechanics, and a hero you care for. Also puts in choice for the player to make your own decisions, and actually follow through. Too many good things about this game. Mass Effect 2 winner of the 'Tokyo's Game of the year awards 2010!'

Quarter 1

Quarter 1 has been absolutely amazing this year. After a pretty average Q4(For a normal Quarter 4) with very little, big releases, we've rebounded hard and already have at least six pretty big titles out. With big name blockbusters like Bayonetta,Mass Effect 2 or BioShock 2 . This has been one of the best quarter ones in gaming history.

Now with such a great quarter (and yet we're only just begun March) would you have switched this quarter with last year, or the year before thats quarter 4? I mean besides the game that inevitably made this quarter so wonderful, which is Modern Warfare 2. Would you as a gamer enjoy a whole year with big releases coming quarter by quarter, month by month?
The industry has grown so huge, that now people are buying games after the big time for spending. People rely on these games, and developers are eager to release these titles. In the future look for more quarter 1, and quarter 2's to be similar to these two.

Dante's Inferno Review

First Look:
The game was very promising. Cool story, great setting, and some cool weapons and characters, but the game doesn't work out in a lot of categories. First off most reviewers called the game a God Of War 3clone and not owning a PlayStation 3 you won't hear any complaints about that. Hearing this game is very similar to the God Of War series I was very anxious too try this game out.

Campaign:
The game already has a story that has been told for ages in literature classes,and everywhere else around the world. The story revolves around Dante who is a crusader and a very bad man, who cheats with slave girls on his wife or lover Beatrice. Well Beatrice gets sent down to hell after dying on Earth. Now Dante has come back for her and too see her die sends Dante on a quest to retrieve her from Lucifer himself.
The game play being very God Of war like in terms of game play makes it exciting for fans of the series. Being a hack and slash game usually means pressing the X button a thousand times, but this game lends it self to cool game play opportunities, and some interesting strategies. First off the game has an absolve or punish system where you can make fallen enemies being absolved into heaven or punish them. They put in a leveling system where you can either choose to be good or bad and it's all determined by if you absolve or punish your enemies.
The enemies and bosses you fight are very...boring. Besides seeing the interesting characters from the book and Roman and Greek cultures all the other enemies you fight are just very annoying. Boss battles happen often and don't do anything too special, besides fighting famous emperors or people from the past everything else is either repetitive or just boring.
The environments have very dark and scary like it should be. Most of the time it's just very disturbing, I mean they do stick to the book, but some stuff is over the top and not in a good way. With many male and female parts being revealed throughout the whole game it does get old. They do pull off some pretty stunning things like the tornado of lust, and some towers and bosses look exactly like you would think they would look like.

Final Thoughts:
The game had a lot of potential and a lot of awareness was built for this game through marketing, but this game did not follow through in the clutch. The game play and environments are done well to an extent, but the graphics aren't great, and fail miserably at other aspects of the game. If your looking for that God Of War warm up before the game release, or if you just wanna run though some cool environments, and experience cool game play check out this game.

Forza 3 Review

First Look:
Forza Motorsport 3 a big game for Microsoft and the X Box 360.Forza 2 a game that was widely popular, and was a very well made game. Forza 3 expands on things it did right and adds so much more content.

Game Play/ Campaign
The game is based on a a list of smaller events with a specific number of races which end with a championship in a specific class. These smaller events happen two or three times a month, and after two or three months you move on to the next season. As well as earning points and new cars to drive. You also earn points and level your car and your level as a whole and the levels go on to at least 50. The system works well and gets you to keep racing. My problem with this is it gets really boring and doesn't hold your attention forever.
Game play is done well for very serious racers and the more casual folk. Forza 3 adds a lot of new things too help you along the way. You can higher and lower difficulty as well as change the style of driving from a more simulated type of racing to a more casual play style. The cars and driving is done well but definitely not the best driving experience I've had in a game. The driving done feel clunky at times, and the racing is sorta dumb downed and is very easy.
The tracks and visuals of the game are outstanding. The cars, tracks, stands, and the other smaller elements all add to to make this game look amazing. Some tracks have very vibrant colors and add some interesting game play experiences. The roar and look of the huge crowd as you drive by them at top speeds is also very exciting. The camera angles are not bad, but they don't add anything to the game like other racing games have done.

Final Thoughts:
The game play is fun and puts a lot of new and exciting things on the table. The game is visually stunning, and all the customization adds to that. Easily the best racing game of '09' and many racing fans shouldn't think twice about picking this game up. It doesn't add anything new but it does a great job at preserving good things about the racing genre.

Alan Wake: Overview

Alan Wake game surrounded by hype ever since it's been in development. Alan Wake a book by author Stephen King based around a writer and his wife who visit a town called Bright Falls. Mysteriously his wife is abducted, and Alan is on a mission to get her back. The game is focused on what seems like are ghost."Fight with light" it says in the trailer, It also shows a scene where you shine your flashlight on a dark figure and the figure explodes.
The game will have episodes and basing off that the game is based off a book it will probably be chapter by chapter. Now I don't know the price point on which these episodes will be held at but I'm guessing $20 or even $15 and episode. The game will be released in the US on May 18th so mark your calenders. Look for more of this in later blog post.
