Mass Effect 2 the sequel to a game that changed how we look at story telling in game. Brought to us by Bioware who has a such impressive track record some would argue their the best of all time. Well now Bioware has Succeeded again with one of their best games yet.
Campaign:
Mass Effect was based in an intergalactic world with many different races and species floating around, It had a deep story line with many twist and turns. Mass Effect 2 is no different, The game game starts back on the original Normandy with your regular crew as your looking for Geth. Certain events turn the game on it's side, Showing a whole new way too look and play Mass Effect. First the bad about this game, Though this game had very little bad still could improve on a lot of things. The combat although very improved they still have a lot of work to do, The ammo system is horrible, The movements are sluggish, and the cover system is very inconsistent. Another thing is how you round up every character it's almost as if you do Mass Effect over with just a different outline for the story. The frame rate drops at times, But no where near too as close as previous Bioware titles. Now too the things this game did well, First off this game made a major improvement on its combat system. Adding new cover mechanics, As well as new ways too fight your enemy. The story once again is outstanding, leaving you with a sense of fear and excitment throughout the game. The characters and voice overs are done very well, With returning voices as the notorius Seth Greene as Joker the Normandy's pilot, The dialogue and how you respond to certain characters play a huge roll in the game. Some lines of dialogue that you choose change the outcome of the main story and many side missions, WHich makes the game more exciting and on edge. Bioware finally showed us the world's of the ship members of the old Normandy, WHich was refreshing and cool. Seeing the Krogan and Quarian home world was very enjoyable, Afer they describe it in full detail in the first, and now has come to life in the second. They also added loyalty missions where you would talk to your crew member and hear of a problme they were having with a family member or job, YOu would end up helping them and gaining their trust. These missions could get boring and some were better than others, But in the long run it's good to find out these crew member's bacl story.
The final mission , "The Suicide mission". The whole game builds up to this point and does Bioware deliver. With all the missions you did, all the upgrades and prepping, this mission tops it out with extreme combat, and strategy. All your decisions come down to this point. Passing through the Omega 4 Relay too the Collector home world or base. The best thing about this mission is all those crew members you did long periods of time helping can die in an instant, and like Bioware said Sheppard can die as well. The decisions and actions you did in this mission are so well played, You want all your crew members to live, But sometimes it just doesn't work out and thats why this mission is so good. It hits everything I wanted for the ending, Except the final boss. Not what I excpected to see for a game which is not really Boss battle heavy.
In the end the Campaign works and is fun in every way. Leading into Mass Effect 3 this was a great way too start, Now i'm curious too see how Bioware works the way I ended in the game. No matter how you end this game you will always have fun. Mass Effect 2 is a must buy.
